What is Extrav?

Each year every College in Lancaster University hosts a huge end of year celebration hosted by each College’s JCR Exec. With nine Colleges, and three days to host all Extravs, and you’ll enjoy three Extravs each night! After the success of 2007, it is going to be hard to better. But with a strong set of ideas it seems that this year could be a repeat performance!
Here is the outline of the dates for each College’s Extrav, and their announced theme for the night as well:
- Tuesday 24th June:
County - Hollywood
Furness - Reggae
Bowland - Fairytales and Legends - Wednesday 25th June:
Cartmel - Jungle Fever
Fylde - Wild West
Pendle - Jungle - Thursday 26th June:
Lonsdale - Mashup
Grizedale - Ibiza
Graduate - Gradfest
Jungle Fever!
5 Live Acts and an unmissable tribute to one of the most recent and compelling UK Bands. For additional information and to receive messages about our Extrav please join our Facebook Group, in addition for Facebook users we are looking for feedback for which song we should choose as our grand finale, and what drinks offers you would like at the event
Of our 5 live acts the first up is The Clergy, a band jam packed with Cartmelians singing mostly cover versions. They are great favourites here in Cartmel College (in fact the lead singer was on the JCR Exec not too long ago … ) and frankly they are going to rock this place.
Next up is This Way Up, an Indie band who have recently changed their name and musical direction (basically, it used to be indie rock and roll but it is not slightly different). You can checkout their MySpace page for more information.
Next we have Max Raptor, a brilliant band who will actually be releasing their debut single in October this year. They have placed in the Cancer Research Rock Night last term (many considered them the best act of the night) and they are sure to give a great performance.
Our headliners are the fantastic Kaiser Thiefs, this energetic and talented group put together not an act, but a show. And what a show it is. Combining their passion for music and their flair for the Kaiser Chiefs they have created an unmissable and truly show stopping experience. Includes - Ruby, I predict a Riot, Angry Mob and much much more…
